Start - Up Grant for New Childminders
"Childminder’s are doing an excellent job, but there just aren't enough of them!"
As a result the Government has provided SureStart County Durham with money to expand childcare and help new childminder’s with the initial costs of getting started.

Each newly registered childminder will be eligible to receive a package from SureStart County Durham which will include: Membership of the National Childminding Association (NCMA) ‘Quality Start’. First aid training. A reclaimable funding package to the value of £200. The membership of the NCMA includes: 12 months membership 12 months public liability insurance and legal representation (annual insurance will not be activated until requested by provider) Business Pack comprising: Accounts book Attendance register Accident incident and medication folder Set of six childminding contracts Set of six child record forms Fire blanket
First Aid Training
This is a requirement by Ofsted for registration.
A Reclaimable Funding Package to the Value of £200
This contribution is up to the value of £200 which can be claimed for in a priority order format: Ofsted Childminding Registration Fee. Health Declaration Fee. Ofsted’s requirements for registration. Safety equipment/resources/other training. Costs for the reclaimable funding package can be reclaimed for the above items after you have been registered. Receipts must be produced for everything that is claimed. An application form and guidance will be sent out to every new childminder in an information pack following registration. You can claim anytime during the financial year you are registered. More than one claim can be made providing the amount does not exceed the maximum grant. If it is expected that you cannot use all of the grant funding in the one financial year you must let us know. Once the registration process is complete you should contact Joanne Swainston on 01740 664010 to arrange membership of the NCMA and to arrange a place on the first aid training course.
