Parent Support Advisers
All primary and secondary schools across County Durham have access to the services of a Parent Support Adviser.
Parent Support Advisers work in partnership with parents and pupils to ensure they and their families get the most out of the educational opportunities available to them.
Parent Support Advisers appreciate the huge impact home life has on children and young people's ability to learn and develop but also recognise the challenges this can bring to parents.
Parent Support Advisers offer practical support, advice and guidance on a wide range of issues such as challenging behaviour both in school and out, school attendance, supporting a child's learning and any other issues that are important to the family.
Parent Support Advisers can help by providing:
- information, advice and practical support including helping you access other services.
- one to one support in you own home or other suitable venue.
- information about local and national support services.
- opportunities for you to get involved in your child's learning and school
- opportunities to learn new skills and meet with other parents.
- courses to build positive relationships with your child and share parenting experiences.
Parent Support Advisers are available all year round, even in school holidays.
Please contact local school for contact details.
Our new
